Good skin bacteria help kill pathogenic bacteria, like antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. A lack of diversity between the 6 subtypes of Cutibacterium acnes can trigger acne. Chronic inflammation, stress, changes in the skin’s pH levels, and your diet, and medication, among other factors, can create an imbalance in microbes. When there is an ecosystem imbalance, it can result in infections or skin diseases, such as acne, eczema, and rosacea. That’s where microbiome skincare comes in.
